![]() Over 800 Hulls And Counting A Test of Time..... Nordic Tugs were conceived in the face of the oil crisis in the late 70's. Reacting to a severe decline in powerboat interest, Lynn Senour designed the first Nordic Tug 26 and debuted it at the Seattle Boats Afloat show. The fuel stingy 26 boasted a trip from Seattle to Ketchikan, Alaska on one tank of fuel. Pretty good for only 50 gallons. Nearly 50 orders were taken during the Seattle show and Nordic Tugs was launched. The first Nordic 26 incidentally, is still on the water today. Jerry Husted is the founder of Nordic Tugs and retired in 2007. Nordic Tugs are often associated with quality, style, character and functionality. Nordic Tugs have an impressive timeline having weathered poor economic climates, the "need for speed" thinking, "when I retire someday" and the single vs. twin engine conundrum to name a few. Yet Nordic Tugs continue to set the precedence in the boating industry as one of the best produced and all around ideal vessels for today's boating lifestyle. Nordic has continued with it's dedication to introducing new models and evolutionary improvements to the entire product line to meet the needs of boaters today. Few boats serve the needs of near shore and coastal passagemakers like Nordic Tugs. Many sailors transitioning away from sailing find the Nordic to be the ideal new platform offering exceptional fuel efficiency and unparalleled comfort and those attributes are finding there way into the minds of new and contemporary minded boaters looking or a different style and efficiency of boating.
